The 2018 Mizoram Open Paragliding Accuracy Championship is underway as you read this! The purpose of the competition accuracy “Championships” is to provide a safe, fair and satisfying contest flying in order to determine the Individual champion of Pre PG Accuracy World Cup India 2018, a CAT II FAI event and to reinforce friendship among pilots.
Out of 51 total entries there are six women participating in this Championship out of which five are Indian, and one from Slovenia. Rinzing Doma Bhutia is currently ranking 2nd in India on an international level based on past competition and wins.
Due to lack of support and funds Rinzing cannot participate in international competitions. In order to maintain her rank, she tries her best to not miss any competitions, nationals and internationals, held in India. This has kept her streak going!
The competition dates are 4th to 8th Dec'18, being hosted in Serchhip in Mizoram, Northeast India. Serchhip is the headquater town of Serchhip District, one of the eight districts of Mizoram, India. The town is located in the heart of Mizoram, surrounded by lush green forest hills. This beautiful town is only 104 kms from the state capital Aizawl.
The elevation of the take-off point is 980 meters, with a spectacular view. The landing point is a vast expanse of paddy fields. The site is one of the best and safest paragliding sites in the Northeast and perhaps the whole of India. Depending on the skill of the pilot, the topography of this site allows a flight of over 6 hours. This is indeed a rare and exciting opportunity.
Send in your best wishes for her and watch this space for more updates.
